Arsenal fans react on Twitter to 'legend' Gazidis' Tottenham jab

Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis took a swipe at rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the club's AGM on Thursday afternoon.

It's fair to say Ivan Gazidis is not always the most popular man among Arsenal fans, their high-earning CEO is often the subject of criticism.

Today's AGM he would have enjoyed more than most, thanks to the club's table topping form and acquisition of Mesut Ozil, backing up his previous boasts that the club could compete with the best in the transfer market.

Confident, he took the opportunity to play to the crowd, taking a dig at rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Asked about the club's lack of prominent marketing in New York compared to Spurs, he said:

“It's true, there was a Bale poster in Times Square but he doesn't play for Spurs any more, he now plays for one of our rivals."

Cutting and to the point, he insinuated Spurs were an irrelevance from a sporting perspective - and while last season their players celebrated on the pitch after pipping them to fourth place - their sights are now set on the European stage, and usurping Real Madrid.

Suddenly, one of the most unpopular men in recent Arsenal history is a hero. Check these comments out from fans on Twitter.

Quite a turnaround from these comments from late August:
