A round up of the key news stories about Chelsea this morning.

Chelsea are one of the sides interested in Everton youngster Ross Barkley.

Reports suggest that the Blues will go up against Manchester United to land the talented midfielder who has been enjoying a breakthrough this season at Goodison Park.

It’s thought it will take an offer in the region of £20 million for Everton to consider parting with the 19-year-old. Gareth Barry has told his current club to fend off any interest.

Chelsea winger and forward Andre Schurrle bagged a hat-trick as Germany demolished Sweden in their last World Cup qualifying game.

Germany came from two goals down in the match to eventually win 5-3, with the Chelsea man the most prolific player on the night.

Schurrle will be hoping to play a big part in Chelsea’s season, securing a place for himself in Germany’s World Cup squad which will travel to Brazil next summer.

There were goals elsewhere for Chelsea players with Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne and Spain’s Juan Mata also getting on the score sheet.

De Bruyne bagged a goal after latching onto a flick from on loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku while Juan Mata completed a simple finish in Spain’s win against Georgia.

Both Belgium and Spain finished top of their groups to qualify automatically for the World Cup next summer.
