Arsenal latest: Conflicting reports on Ozil fitness but Cazorla returns

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Continuing on from reports this morning, and it seems that Mesut Ozil will miss the Arsenal game with Norwich in the Premier League this weekend. Ozil limped out of action in Germany’s 5-3 win against Sweden in Stockholm last night, with what was originally reported as a bruised knee. It now transpires that he is suffering with a hamstring injury - and is very likely to miss the game this weekend - however his absence should not be long-term.

However other reports maintain that Ozil will return for the Norwich game - because the injury was a bruised knee and nothing more sinister. This story will certainly develop in time but in good news Santi Cazorla is expected to return while Wojciech Szczesny will also feature, despite suffering a bruised arm in a collision with Danny Welbeck last night.

Nacho Monreal has been speaking to about his first nine months at the club. Despite being second to Kieran Gibbs in the pecking order at The Emirates at the moment, he seems to be happy with life in North London:

“The players’ confidence [is different this season]. You can tell that they are very enthusiastic, very happy, the results are going our way and logically that makes everything easier. We have a happy group and that is very important to playing football well.”
