Report - Luis Suarez is only an 'alternative' for Real Madrid

Spanish newspaper Marca has reported that Luis Suarez is only an alternative option for Real Madrid behind Jackson Martinez, Robert Lewandowski and Falcao.

Breathe a sigh of relief Liverpool fans because Luis Suarez is not Real Madrid’s priority, maybe he never has been.

Marca has suggested he’s one of three players considered alternative options to FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez, which makes an already realistic chance of him staying with Liverpool beyond this season even greater.

Suarez is mentioned briefly in a report alongside Robert Lewandowski and Falcao of AS Monaco as back up options should the Spanish side fail to sign Martinez from Porto this winter or next summer.

The report even suggests that Suarez is only the fourth choice of the Spanish side, suggesting they will mount strong challenges to sign Falcao and Lewandowski before they put together a formal offer for the Uruguayan striker.

“The third potential candidate is playing far from the glamour of Monaco, at Anfield: namely Luis Suarez. A whole load of goals, plenty of controversy and the warrior attitude so typical of Uruguay is the combination that the Liverpool striker keeps in his locker,” reads the story.

Suarez has been constantly linked with the Spanish club and despite the number of factors, which suggest he will stay at Liverpool for a long time, it hasn’t stopped rumours circulating in the Spanish press.

Suarez looks comfortable and settled at Liverpool, making a great impact since he return from that ten match suspension for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

He’s scored three goals in his last two Premier League games, he looks hungry and focused entirely on Liverpool, which is encouraging in terms of the club’s aims this season.

Liverpool stand a great chance of finishing in fourth this season, which would mean Champions League football and a final nail in the coffin with regards to Suarez’s future, which is already fairly well secured.

Most importantly, this plays into the hands of Brendan Rodgers, who will be very keen to get the most out of Suarez for the rest of this season and many more years to come.
