Man announces senior hire

For Hire

Man Group has announced the appointment of Neil Mason as Senior Managing Director and Lead Portfolio Manager of the Man GLG multi-strategy portfolios, reporting to Luke Ellis, President of Man Group.

Mason joins Man from Harvard Management Company, where he was Chief Risk Officer. Prior to this, he was CIO at FRM Capital Advisors (“FCA”), where he helped to establish its investment process and seeding activities. Before joining FCA, Mason was CEO of BlueCrest, and has also held a variety of senior roles at Bank of America and JP Morgan.

As part of the move, David Kingsley, portfolio manager on the multi-strategy portfolios, will report to Mason and continue in his current role. As now, he will have input on the asset allocation and strategy selection whilst focusing on the day-to-day portfolio risk and trading activities of the portfolios.

Ellis says: 'We believe Neil's appointment will enhance our expertise in managing GLG’s multi-strategy portfolios. Neil will also work with me in overseeing the full range of investment strategies across the firm, with a focus on the discretionary strategies at GLG. We are very pleased to welcome him to Man, and David to GLG to continue his important role as portfolio manager'.
