£30m Manchester United target Gundogan could play against Arsenal

Reus, Sahin and Gundogan are on the training pitch again. Will they be ready for their Champions League clash against Arsenal FC?

Seven days before Champions League’s great clash of Borussia Dortmund vs. Arsenal the team from Germany’s Ruhr Valley had to face adversity. Is there relief on the horizon?

As we reported earlier Borussia Dortmund battled with many key injuries: Marco Reus, Nuri Sahin, Sebastian Kehl and notably Ilkay Gundogan.

The star midfielder Gundogan has been out for the past month with a back injury. It was feared that his return to the field could wait till 2014.

Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said last week to German tabloid Bild about the 22-year-old: “He’s just not making much progress. We do not know when he can play again.”

Defensive midfielder and Sebastian Kehl is still sidelined but the good news for Dortmund fans are: Reus, Sahin and Gundogan are training again.

Gundogan, who is reportedly targeted by Manchester United FC and Arsenal FC with a £30 million bid, did some running yesterday on Dortmund’s training field.

The light run unites by the 22-year-old was a sign of improvement, wrote German football magazine kicker.

The Ruhr Nachrichten, a Dortmund-based newspaper, reported yesterday that all three, Reus, Sahin and Gundogan completed an individual training session. They are hoping to be active next Saturday against Bundesliga’s Hannover 96.

Sahin told reporters: “We are doing everything we can to play on Saturday.”

Marcel Schmelzer, who was out with an injury for almost a month, could be back too. But he didn’t train on the pitch yesterday.

Sven Bender is also healthy, he will most likely play next week.

If all of them improve like it is anticipated, Arsenal will face a reinvigorated Borussia Dortmund, one who will hope to be as strong and dynamic as they where in their last year’s Champions League run.

What do you think? Will Dortmund gain the upper hand if Reus, Sahin and Gundogan are healthy again?
