Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Alexis Sanchez rumours

Old Trafford

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean midfielder is apparently the answer to Manchester United’s left hand side problems despite the emergence and development of Adnan Januzaj this season.

Nani recently signed a new five-year contract with the club but neither he or Ashley Young have been able to nail down a position on the left of United’s midfield with Danny Welbeck still played out of position there routinely.

The arrival of Sanchez at Old Trafford may seem like a difficult deal for United to pull it off but not only would it be a significant statement of intent, it would be a signing that could improve the quality of players like Januzaj as well as the midfield in general.

Sanchez has been linked with moves away from the Nou Camp in the past and it’s no surprise that his form of four goals in six games this season has prompted apparent interest from the Premier League champions.

He’s also weighed in with three assists for Barcelona across La Liga and the Champions League, which shows his shaken off any selfish tendencies and is making the right decisions in the opponent’s final third of the pitch.

Add to that club form a sparkling performance for Chile in their last World Cup qualifier against Colombia (where he bagged a brace) and if he can maintain his momentum, he could easily become the most talked about winger in Europe.

Manchester United boss David Moyes has spoken frequently this season, saying he feels his current side are lacking world class players with the ability to go straight into the starting line-up.

United will spend money this January if the right players become available because they are one of the biggest football clubs in the world, able to draw on vast resources when needed.
