News and gossip from the weekend at White Hart Lane.
Spurs have reportedly rekindled their interest in Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez. The Mexican is currently down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck all ahead of him.
The 25-year-old recently intimated that he could be forced to consider a move away from United this winter - as he wants to play football in the run up to the World Cup, if Mexico qualify that is.
Andros Townsend will reportedly receive a bumper new deal with the club after an impressive start to the season culminated in his performance for England on debut on Friday.
The 23-year-old, who has been out on nine loan deals since becoming a Spurs player, will reportedly be offered a bumper pay-rise - taking his annual salary to £2 million.
It is expected a two-year extension will be added to the deal - keeping him at White Hart Lane until 2018.
Andre Villas Boas was reportedly in Barcelona this weekend, casting his eye over an 18-year-old Barcelona player. Sergi Samper, who starred for the Barca NextGen Team at White Hart Lane last season, has caught the eye of AVB with his composed midfield performances.
Any deal however will be difficult, as Barcelona have touted him as one of their players for the future.
Michael Dawson has spoken of his belief that Spurs must respond to their defeat against West Ham last weekend against Aston Villa in a weeks’ time:
"The first three days when I woke up my first thought was 'how did we lose that game? Now we have to put it right…We will now look to go out and win against Villa. A loss like West Ham is always in the back of your mind but you have to move on. In football, you get the chance to do it."
Tottenham are reportedly set to win the race for Japanese international Keisuke Honda. The CSKA Moscow attacker’s contract expires in the winter, and despite widespread reports from Italy that he has agreed a move to AC Milan, Spurs are also said to be in the running.
