‘£100m man’ linked with Manchester United; midfielder set for Championship stay

A select round-up of morning news relating to Manchester United

Despite the January transfer window not opening until, well, January, Manchester United have already been linked with another big money move their fans will no doubt take with a pinch of salt.

The Metro is reporting that David Moyes is casting an eye over Montpellier playmaker Remy Cabella – a man who his club have previously stated will not be able to leave for less than £100million.

So we guess he is going nowhere then.

In other transfer news, the English press have now picked up on reports that first came out yesterday in Portugal – linking FC Porto’s Fernando with a move to Old Trafford.

The defensive-midfielder is in the final year of his contract, and could move to Old Trafford on a free next summer.

We ran a more detailed story on the player and the links yesterday that can be found here.

From possible incomings to potential outgoings: with the Daily Star Sunday reiterating previous claims that Wilfried Zaha could be on his way to Newcastle United on loan.

The report claims Joe Kinnear has been tasked with completing the deal, and that Moyes would be willing to sanction the move in January to give the former Crystal Palace man much-needed game-time in the top flight.

And finally, another United starlet could be set to extend his loan spell in the Championship, with Ipswich Town hoping to keep Ryan Tunniclifee beyond January.

Speaking to the Ipswich Star, manager Mick McCarthy said, “It will come down to whether Tunners is enjoying himself – which he is, he’s loving it – and whether we want him, and we’re certainly loving having him here.”
