Arsenal latest: Ozil spoke to United and Turkish rival for Benzema

All the latest news and gossip from the pat 24 hours at The Emirates.

Mesut Ozil spoke to Manchester United just hours before securing a deadline day switch to Arsenal. It was rumoured on the day that another club had got in touch with Real Madrid about their interest in snapping up the German international - but it was not known if anything concrete had been lodged.

However it has now been revealed that in mid-August he was offered to United, who decided they did not need him - only for contact to be made once again on Deadline Day.

However Arsenal had sealed the deal and got their man for £42.5 million.

Saido Berahino is once again being linked with a move to Arsenal today. The England under-21 international was linked with The Gunners a couple of weeks ago, and that interest has freshened up after his performance against The Gunners last weekend.

Berahino is currently on a small basic wage at West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal could offer him a vastly superior monthly salary.

Baggies manager Steve Clarke has previously stated he is not worried about the player leaving The Hawthorns - but Berahino certainly fits the bill for an Arsene Wenger type buy - so watch this space.

Arsenal may receive competition from Galatasaray for Karim Benzema this winter. The Real Madrid striker has struggled to have an impact at the Bernabeu this season - and is reportedly available for £17 million.

Arsene Wenger is said to be considering him as competition for Olivier Giroud - however, Roberto Mancini now wants to make the former Lyon player yet another Marquee player to arrive in Istanbul.

Arsene Wenger is reportedly set to make a move for Juventus and Spain striker Fernando Llorente. The former Athletic Bilbao striker joined Juventus on a Bosman deal this summer - but has struggled for first team football since arriving in Turin.

Jack Wilshere is set to be left out of the first-team for England tonight for the game against Montenegro. The Arsenal midfielder has been in the news for negative reasons recently, with his smoking scandal and comments about eligibility for the England team.

But it is believed neither incident is actually behind the decision to drop Wilshere.

Wilshere has struggled for top form this campaign, and has reportedly not impressed Roy Hodgson in training this week.

Finally, and Serge Gnabry may be being courted by Inter Milan and VfB Stuttgart … but he will definitely be wanted to stick around at Arsenal.

He scored for the German Under-19 side yesterday, as his exciting season continues.
