One year ago if you had suggested Aaron Ramsey would finish ahead of Mesut Ozil in any kind of poll many would have thought you were mad.
Yet here we are, October 2013, and exactly that has happened.
What's more it barely comes as a surprise, which is no slight on Ozil, more a ringing endorsement of Aaron Ramsey's supreme form.
Ramsey has been named the player of the month by Arsenal's official website - for the third month in a row.
"The Welsh midfielder has claimed the award for the third time on the bounce after scoring five goals in September.
"Ramsey recieved a huge 72.2 per cent of the vote, with new signings Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini coming second and third respectively."
It is not just the fact Ramsey tops the list which is commendable, but the sheer scale of his victory as voted for by Arsenal supporters.
Ozil received 17 per cent of the vote with Flamini 5.6 per cent.
A deeper look at the statistics shows it should really be no surprise at Ramsey's runaway success.
The midfielder has scored as many Premier League goals as Olivier Giroud, and has only one less assist than Ozil.
He has completed an incredible 434 passes, more than 100 more than any other Arsenal player, while his 35 tackles are more than twice the number of the nearest second highest Gunner.
It is clearly well deserved and the judgement of Arsenal fans is spot on. We just wonder what he might be worth now...
