"We are following him, I like the intelligence of his play, he has interesting qualities, if anyone, he reminds me of [Samir] Nasri."
That was Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger speaking in June to Telefoot regarding Lyon ace Clement Grenier.
Grenier has also been compared to Brazilian star Kaka, and Juninho Pernambucano for his free-kick taking skills.
Following Wenger's comments the Gunners were linked with a deal for the 22-year-old, who had just one year remaining on his contract.
The situation was clarified and ended for the summer when the playmaker put pen to paper on a new deal to take him up until 2016.
However Lyon are in a moment of crisis, winless in four games and hammered 5-1 by Montpellier at the weekend, and it appears Grenier is already reconsidering his future.
His agent Frederic Guerra told Le10Sport: "We extended there is little his contract until June 2016, but that does not mean he can not leave. He is a player of Lyon, and he would not move before June to put the odds on his side to get his call for the World Cup 2014. But from June 2014, there could be something."
Grenier has played 10 games for Lyon this season scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Do Arsenal still need Grenier now they have Ozil?
