7 goals in 10 games - Manchester United chase exciting Portuguese winger

Benfica

Manchester United are on the trail of Portuguese winger Ivan Cavaleiro.

Manchester United after a Portuguese winger? Where does that sound familiar?

The Sun among others have today reported Manchester United are on the trail of young prospect Ivan Cavaleiro.

He would follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, and erm.. Bebe, if he were to move to Old Trafford from the Primeira Liga.

So what can we tell you about him? Here are five facts about the future star...

1) Cavaleiro, 19, is registered to Benfica, but has not yet played a competitive match for the club, but his current form has indicated it is not far away.

2) He has instead been flourishing for the Benfica B side, where he has scored seven goals in 10 games this season from the right wing - also providing two assists. Three goals came in a hat-trick at the weekend in a 5-1 win.

3) A Portugal youth international, Cavaleiro has scored four goals for the under-21s this season, including a hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Switzerland and a goal last month in a 5-1 win over Norway.

4) Cavaleiro went to the under-20 World Cup this summer with Portugal, playing four matches as a substitute only to see the side eliminated in a 3-2 quarter-final defeat to Ghana.

5) He has a long-term contract at Benfica which runs up until 2018.
