Rangers: Mather looks to bring King back into club's fold

Another development in the boardroom saga.

There seems to be a bit more development on the situation at Rangers as chief executive Craig Mather was in South Africa holding talks to bring Dave King back to Ibrox in what has been described as an ‘influential role’ according to much of the press in Scotland this morning.

Mather has been under a lot of pressure at Rangers ever since the release of the clubs accounts reported a £14m operating loss, along with the revelations that Charles Green and David Stockbridge were paid bonuses adjudged to have been exorbitant.

It has been said for a while that King has been interested in investing in the Ibrox club. He has recently lost in the region of £45m after a settlement with the South African tax authority and previously invested around £20m with Rangers before they went into administration.

Some fans are said to be demanding the removal of Mather and Stockbridge from the club’s board, whilst Mather believes the return of King could go some way to healing the relationship between those running the club and the club’s fans.
