Rangers morning news: Reaction to Ayr win, Gers make it eight in a row

Lewis Macleod scores a wonder goal as McCoist is pleased to get another win

Rangers continued their unblemished record this season following a 2-0 win against Ayr United at Somerset Park, making it eight wins from as many games.

Bilel Mohsni and Lewis Macleod grabbed the goals for Rangers, and Mohsni has said Macleod is a ‘special talent’ after scoring a spectacular overhead kick.

‘He scored a fantastic goal against Ayr. You do not score a goal like that without being a special talent. I am sure he will grow in confidence now. There are good young players coming through at most clubs. But Lewis is different because of the character he shows at a young age.

‘He always wants the ball. Sometimes when you are young you hide yourself away. But that is not the way Lewis plays the game. He has a strong mentality.’

Mohsni was delighted to get on the scoresheet himself, saying: ‘I just hit the ball and was delighted to see it go past the goalkeeper. It was a great feeling, I enjoy scoring goals and I was very happy to see Lewis get his also.’

Manager Ally McCoist has said the only remedy for the boardroom struggle off the field is by the team winning on it, and was delighted with his side’s victory yesterday.

‘It has been a box of tricks managing this club for the past couple of years but hopefully we’ll just handle everything that’s thrown at us.

‘Last week was interesting but the most important thing is the team are performing and getting results for the supporters.’
