Tottenham Hotspur suffered a classic case of European hangover on Sunday, as they were put to the sword by a wonderfully set up West Ham United side at White Hart Lane.
Goals from Winston Reid, Ricardo Vaz Te and an excellent solo run and finish from Ravel Morrison made up a 3-0 win for The Hammers against their London rivals - leaving Andre Villas-Boas flabbergasted on the side-lines.
A few Spurs players came out of the game with some form of credit, Andros Townsend for instance looked dangerous at times, even if his end product certainly needs improvement.
But overall, there was not entirely much for Tottenham’s players to write home about, as a poor performance left them losing bragging rights to their vocal opponents.
But while the result was pretty bad in itself, they did not really need to have it rubbed in by a rather humorous request from the clubs official website.
On the official Tottenham Hotspur Twitter feed they asked the question …
Which obviously went down well with Spurs fans who simply could not get their mind around the idea that they were seriously being asked to name a MOTM for a performance as woeful as they had just seen in a West Ham humbling.
But some of the disbelieving Tweets still made for good reading.
Here is a selection…
@SpursOfficial Ha ha! You lost the match but retained a sense of humour!— Peter (@Pietros1) October 6, 2013
