Liverpool morning news: Henderson, Toure on SAS, Rodgers an England coach?

Reaction as Liverpool join Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson believes that the strike partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge could secure the club Champions League football next season.

Henderson was speaking after Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday – which has ultimately meant they join Arsenal on 16 points at the top of the Premier League, with only goals scored keeping the Gunners ahead.

Henderson said: ‘They played a few games together before Luis got the ban and since Luis has come back in they’ve fitted together perfectly. They know where each other’s going to be and they’ve been outstanding. They can be a massive factor for us this season.

‘As a team we just need to make sure that we shut the door at the back and we’re nice and compact.’

Defender Kolo Toure believes Suarez and Sturridge are the best strike duo in the league after they both got on the scoresheet against Palace.

Toure said: ‘They are the best pair in the league, definitely. They work well together, they respect each other and they are so strong up front. Suarez is a great player and that is why we wanted him to stay because he is a big striker and to have someone like him and Sturridge is important. Their job is to score goals.’

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has said that he would have appointed current Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers as a part-time coach at the European Championships if he had become England manager.
