Reaction to Celtic's 2-0 win over Motherwell as James Forrest takes a break from international duty to work on his fitness.
Celtic went top of the Scottish Premier League at the weekend after goals from Anthony Stokes and Kris Commons secured a 2-0 win against Motherwell at Parkhead.
The Hoops are now three points clear with a game in hand, having only dropped two points all season. However, manager Neil Lennon doesn’t want to talk about the prospect of his side going throughout the season unbeaten just yet, after Commons revealed it was they players target.
‘People were asking me about the treble a couple of weeks ago. So it is all very premature. But I’m delighted with the start to the season we have made in the league, and with the football we are playing.
‘We’ve set the players targets in the league, and they are achieving them so far.’
Winger James Forrest played more of a part than he thought he would as he continues his recovery from illness. He replaced Adam Matthews after 13 minutes of the game. Matthews is expected to find out the true extent of his injury today.
Forrest played a little longer than he imagined and will miss Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against Croatia.
Forrest said: ‘Scotland and the club have spoken and feel I will benefit from the break. I don’t really want to talk about the illness, but I’m feeling better now. I wasn’t feeling well, I lost a bit of weight because I wasn’t eating. For ten days, I wasn’t the best.’
