Chelsea morning news: Cole a doubt for England, scout confirms interest in Marseille star

Ashley Cole

A round up of this morning’s news relating to Chelsea.

Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole is an injury concern for England ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Montenegro this Friday.

The Blues defender was taken off during the 3-1 win at Norwich City yesterday with a rib problem. Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will have a scan on the problem.

“He goes for a scan now, when we arrive home, on his ribs. I hope he is fine. I want England to do well, so I hope he’s fine,” said Mourinho.

Mourinho says he is fortunate that his decision to make radical changes during the game at Norwich paid off.

Mourinho introduced Willian and Eden Hazard to the match late on with both players grabbing goals.

“I had to go with what I did. I had to put Eto'o, Hazard and Willian on, all three at the same time,” added the Chelsea boss.

Chelsea scout Guy Hillion has confirmed the club are looking at Gianelli Imbula.

The 21-year-old midfielder was strongly linked with the club last month, with some reports suggesting Chelsea could make a huge £25 million bid for the Marseille star this January.

“I have seen [Gianelli Imbula] often. As soon as he gets the ball he is able to accelerate and break through the lines. He covers well, has good technique, great vision of the game, with a very good quality pass,” he told Le 10 Sport.
