Southampton 2-0 Swansea City: Champions League, anyone?

Southampton Football Club

Southampton won 2-0 at home to Swansea City this afternoon.

A quick glance at the Premier League table just won't be enough for Southampton fans this afternoon.  They will be pouring over the fact that their latest victory has sent them into the top four.

The Saint's 2-0 victory over Swansea City sees them just two points off top spot - at least until the final whistle at the Hawthorns.

Goals from Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez saw to Michael Laudrup's side, and a shut-out at the other end ensured Southampton gained their fifth consecutive clean-sheet.

Swansea had their chances to equalise prior to Rodriguez's late second, but Artur Boruc was in fine form to deny Michu.

While the Saints continue to soar, the Swans remain in 14th place.
