Manchester United morning news: Januzaj’s ‘unprecedented’ offer; Valencia in possible swap-deal

A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United, including a possible new deal for Adnan Januzaj and a potential new offer for Leighton Baines.

After his outstanding brace rescued Manchester United against Sunderland yesterday, Adnan Januzaj will reportedly be offered a deal unprecedented for someone of his age and experience in order to remain at Old Trafford.

The claim comes from Goal, with the website reporting that United are keen to prevent a similar situation to the one that saw Paul Pogba ultimately leave for Juventus.

A club source has been quoted as saying, “The club have strict parameters about the type of wages they are prepared to offer young players. But there is a growing acceptance they will have to break with convention if they are to prevent Januzaj from leaving.”

With the belief among some that the Belgian winger is United’s brightest talent since Cristiano Ronaldo, David Moyes will surely do everything he can to prevent an undeniable star of the future from leaving for nothing when his current deal expires.

From current players to potential new arrivals now, with the Daily Mail claiming United will return with a new bid for Leighton Baines in January, this time throwing in a player for good measure.

The paper claims Moyes will offer Everton £15million plus Antonio Valencia, which does not make a great deal of sense given the winger’s return to something resembling his best form in recent weeks. But only time will tell if the latest rumours are anywhere close to the truth.

The same can be said of the Sunday People’s report that Karim Benzema could be on his way to England for a cut-price £17million.

United have long been admirers of the Frenchman, with Sir Alex Ferguson attempting to sign him before he made a move to Real Madrid.

But in truth it is in midfield and defence that United will surely be looking to strengthen during the next transfer window, if at all.
