All the news, views and transfer rumours from Anfield this weekend…
The big news from the weekend, covered in more detail above, is that former Reds manager Kenny Dalglish is returning to the club as a non-executive director.
The club has also been linked with a January move for Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore, with the player's agent claiming that if a suitable offer arrives, the Ivorian will be on his way.
Had a different stance been taken, the Uruguayan would no longer be at Anfield to inspire days like yesterday. But he is, and in tandem with Daniel Sturridge he tore the Eagles apart.
He may have been suspended for the end of last season and the beginning of this one, but he is playing as if he has never been away – as if rather than negating his impact, the extended break just motivated him to do even better on his return.
Goals from Suarez, Sturridge and Steven Gerrard saw to Crystal Palace, and aside from a consolation strike from Dwight Gayle, the day belonged to a free-flowing Liverpool.
Speaking to LFC TV after the match, Suarez explained that there was no competition between him and his strike-partner to outdo each other. They are simply playing for the good of the team.
“We compete for the shirt of Liverpool and we try our best for the team, not for me or him,” Suarez said.
“If we stay with the same football style and try for the win every game, we can try for the top four.”
Few who have seen Suarez play since his return to the Liverpool team would bet against that; the only question is who will miss out?
