Here is the Chelsea line-up for this afternoon’s match against Norwich City:
Starting XI: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Luiz, Cole, Lampard, Ramires, Oscar, Schurrle, Mata, Ba
Subs: Schwarzer, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Essien, Willian, Hazard, Eto’o
Chelsea travel to Norwich knowing a win will take them back up to third in the Premier League table. With Fernando Torres both injured and suspended, and Eden Hazard on the bench, Juan Mata is given the chance to show Jose Mourinho why he should be starting every single week.
Norwich’s Sebastien Bassong had a late fitness test while Nathan Redmond and Javier Garrido should both return after missing last weekend’s victory against Stoke City.
The Canaries may have impressed in their last outing, but they are going to need to perform at an entirely different level if they wish to take anything from this afternoon’s game. Recent history is not on their side, as they have not beaten Chelsea in their last nine encounters, last winning against the Blues in 1994.
In the corresponding fixture last season, Mata scored the only goal of the game.
What do you think the result will be this afternoon?
