Chelsea morning news: Berahino raid, £35m Mata and team news

All the news and gossip from Stamford Bridge this Sunday morning.

Chelsea take on Norwich today, and are hoping to win their first game on the road in the Premier League this season. The Canaries will hope to put home advantage to the test against Jose Mourinho’s men, and Carrow Road has seen its fair share of giant killings in recent years.

Fernando Torres is suspended after seeing red against Tottenham and Marco van Ginkel is out for the season with a knee injury - otherwise, Jose Mourinho’s side are at full strength.

Jose Mouinho is to wage war on divers. It comes a week after he labelled Jan Vertonghen a disgrace for what he felt was play acting to get Fernando Torres sent off.

The boss has stated:

“I have told the players many times, I hate it. It is very bad. And the search of a red card for another player is a disgrace. I haven’t dropped a player because of it, but being strong and critical, I did it, yes. I spoke about it with Drogba and Robben.’’

Paris Saint-Germain are being linked with a renewed bid for Spanish international Juan Mata, who has had a difficult start to his career under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

The playmaker was perhaps Chelsea’s best player last season but has been in and out of the team since the Portuguese returned to Stamford Bridge.

It is said that the mega-rich French outfit are ready to spend £35 million on him.

Chelsea are ready to raid West Brom once again this winter for striking sensation Saido Berahino.

The England under-21 striker has been in superb form for The Baggies this season and is still on a youth contract - getting paid just £850-a-week at The Hawthorns.

Chelsea have already poached the talented Isaiah Brown from West Brom recently and this would test relations between the two clubs.

Chelsea are being linked with a January move for Karim Benzema once again this morning. It is said that The Blues and Arsenal are ready to pay up to £17 million for the French international - who is out of favour after a poor start to the campaign with Los Blancos.
