Adnan Januzaj is reportedly wanted by Juventus, and his contract expires at the end of the season ... sound familiar?
Manchester United have been handed a respite from their woeful start to their domestic campaign, after picking up a win at Sunderland in today’s evening football.
But it was certainly not a straight run thing - as they struggled for much of the game, and went 1-0 down after Nemanja Vidic’s mistake fed Craig Gardner to give Sunderland a first half lead.
The young Belgian was arguably the team’s best player on the night, but it seemed the only contribution of note he would have to the game was going to be a blatant dive that was rewarded with a yellow card.
But his brace, including a sumptuous volley for his and United’s second, proved to everyone the innate quality it has been argued he possesses for some time now.
Now United fans are however nervous.
Januzaj was set to extend his deal at United last season, but it fell through when Sir Alex Ferguson left the club and now his current deal expires next summer.
His agent has even made it clear that there is plenty of interest from across Europe in his signature, with Juventus said to be one team carefully monitoring his situation.
And the parallels with another former United youth talent are clear to see. French international Paul Pogba refused to wait for first team opportunities at Old Trafford, and instead decided it was better for his career to leave on a free transfer - with Juventus his destination.
Now he has proved himself in Italy, and become one of the continents best central midfielders.
United fans hope that Januzaj will now be given an extended run in the first-team, a run that will convince him to deny any overtures from the Bianconeri or anyone else for that matter casting envious eyes over his progress.
It was clear on Twitter how Manchester United fans felt about it all, declaring their belief that Januzaj needed to be offered a new deal in order to avoid another Pogba-like debacle.
Here are some of the Tweets …

Moyes handling Januzaj situation pretty well. Giving him a fair chance and spurring him to stay, unlike Fergie with Pogba.— Samuel Luckhurst (@samuelluckhurst) October 5, 2013
