Here is the Liverpool line-up for this afternoon’s match against Crystal Palace:
Starting XI: Mignolet, Toure, Sakho, Skrtel, Enrique, Henderson, Sterling, Gerrard, Moses, Suarez, Sturridge
Subs: Jones, Agger, Ilori, Aspas, Ibe, Wisdom, Alberto
Liverpool can return to the top of the Premier League with a win against Crystal Palace this afternoon. And after Luis Suarez’s impressive league return against Sunderland last weekend, few would bet against the Uruguayan making it another bad day for the Eagles.
Apart from Lucas’s absence through suspension and Glen Johnson’s long-term injury lay-off, Brendan Rodgers has virtually a full squad to choose from. And given the form of their frontmen, it could be argued that the players behind them can simply stand back and admire the attacking talent on show.
Of course it is not quite that easy, but Suarez’s record of 18 goals in his last 21 games, and Sturridge’s return of 18 in 24, suggests Liverpool have the firepower to lead them to considerable success this season.
The Eagles could end the day at the bottom of the table, but that would mean Sunderland have pulled off a big shock in defeating Manchester United at the Stadium of Light.
Palace may have won three of their last four games against Liverpool, but it is unlikely they will make that four wins from five.
What do you think the result will be this afternoon?
