All the latest news and gossip from Stamford Bridge this morning.
Romelu Lukaku cannot return to Chelsea from his loan spell at Everton. The Belgian international is in great form for The Toffees, while Chelsea’s strikers toil in front of goal.
But despite no apparent desire of Mourinho’s to reel Lukaku in from Merseyside. It was rumoured that Lukaku can go back to Chelsea in January if Mourinho wants.
It has also been reported he could go to Juventus in January, but his agent has clarified the situation:
"There is no clause. It is a season-long loan. He chose to join Everton, he wanted to play for Everton and score goals for them and will not go anywhere in January. He is concentrating on his form and the manager is happy with him.’’
Jose Mourinho believes that his task at Chelsea is more difficult this time around. He says that the difference between the club now and when he first took over at Stamford Bridge is vast and that a solution is harder to come by:
"For a club like us it's not good to be 15, 20 points behind. We need to win seven matches 1-0, not win one match 7-0 and lose the other six, or lose points. This is the kind of mentality that you have to build. And it's much more difficult. I had a team of players in the best moment, potentially, of their career I needed a click to make them believe. At this moment, in terms of building a team, the task is different."
Kevin De Bruyne’s ‘time will come’ according to Jose Mourinho. The Belgian international has been struggling to hold down a place since returning from a successful loan spell with German club Werder Bremen.
The 22-year-old is said to be contemplating another loan deal in January, in order to cement a place in the Belgian World Cup squad:
‘’This is a very good player, his time will come."
