Arsenal morning news: Castro interested and Dalglish backing

The news from The Emirates this morning including another Bundesliga star interested in making the Arsenal switch.

Arsenal are being linked with another German, largely via the player himself, in the German press. Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Gonzalo Castro has spoken to German media about reportedly harbouring a desire to play abroad one day:

“I could envision myself getting to know another culture and language. That was a goal earlier, but that is unrealistic due to the financial crisis. I would be the fourth German at Arsenal, that wouldn’t be so bad.’

In news that effectively slipped under the radar due to the ‘footballer smokes’ overreaction Arsene Wenger yesterday confirmed that Bacary Sagna will be out for up to three weeks with a hamstring strain.

The French international picked up the injury against Napoli on Tuesday night. Here is what Wenger had to say:

"Sagna will be not be available, he has a hamstring injury and will be out for three weeks."

Carl Jenkinson is expected to take his place in the starting line-up for the foreseeable future.

Arsenal have been given the backing of former Liverpool boss and player Kenny Dalglish. The Kop hero, who recently joined the board of directors at Anfield, feels that Arsene Wenger has assembled a team that can really do damage to the rest of the Premier League this season.

Leverkusen ace: 'I would be the fourth German at Arsenal, so that wouldn't be bad'

Here is one extract from his article in today’s Mirror:

‘’It looked as though they might implode when they lost to Aston Villa on the opening day of the season.

But they didn’t. They bounced right back. So they have mental strength, too. The rest are going to have to work hard to knock them off their perch.’’

Arsenal fan Ravel Morrison is ready to do The Gunners a favour this weekend, by downing Tottenham Hotspur. The London derby will see Morrison take on Spurs, and the ex-Manchester United player and Arsenal fan made his allegiance clear in an interview:

‘’I can't wait for Sunday. I'm more of an Arsenal fan to be honest, but Tottenham have done really well this season. Hopefully we can carry on playing how we have been playing, but we can score a few goals this time and you never know how things could go.’’
