Celtic morning news: Forster 'perfect' for Barca, Alves & Commons

Forster also selected for England whilst Celtic look ahead to Motherwell.

Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster would be the perfect replacement for Victor Valdes at Barcelona according to Dani Alves. Forster has won many plaudits for his heroics in the Champions League – both this season and last – which has seen him earn a place in the latest England squad.

Alves said it wouldn’t surprise him if the Spanish giants try to take Forster to the Nou Camp, according to the Daily Record: ‘He has had to deal with the best attacking players in the world and each time he has done very well – even in the games Celtic lost. Barcelona are a club that are always looking to add quality and it’s clear Forster has real quality.

‘Obviously no transfers can be done at the moment – but if it is a deal that ever happens he’d be a good addition.’

Kris Commons hopes Celtic avoid slipping up on a potential banana skin this weekend against Motherwell – and hopes they show the kind of ruthlessness that was on display against Kilmarnock.

Commons said: ‘We were a bit guilty last year of being lacklusture in these games and losing, so the gaffer will have us fired up and ready for it. They are playing well and it’s going to be a tough game, and a completely different one to Tuesday, but we will be expected to go out and win.

‘Hopefully we can put on a show and pick up where we left off in the league and pick up three points.’
