Predicted Manchester City XI to play Everton - Zabaleta, Silva and Negredo back in

Manchester City Etihad 2

Manchester City will be looking to bounce back against Everton following back-to-back defeats in the Premier League and Champions League.

Many City fans we still be in awe today over the way Bayern Munich played in the Champions League clash at the Etihad stadium. However, focus needs to shift forward quickly because Everton pose a real threat against the club this weekend.

Manuel Pellegrini is likely to make a couple of changes to his team for this Saturday’s game as he looks for his side to put another three league points on the board, closing the gap on current leaders Arsenal.

Here’s the side he could go with.

GK – Joe Hart

There’s plenty of criticism floating around today about Hart’s performance against Bayern Munich but he remains the best goalkeeper have and one of the best in the league. He’ll be very determined to put in an efficient display in all areas.

RB – Pablo Zabaleta

Zabaleta has to come back into the side. He’s one of the leaders in the current City team and they were missing that last night. He demands the best from his teammates and his energy and enthusiasm rubs off on everyone else.

CB – Vincent Kompany

Kompany hasn’t had the best of games following his world class performance against Manchester United. However, he is the key figure in the middle of defence, City’s leader and the rest of the side will be looking to him to set the tone and lead by example this weekend.

CB – Matija Nastasic

Nastasic is likely to be retained alongside Kompany in the middle of the defence. He’s still a very young player and is only going to get better. He struggled with the movement of some of Bayern’s players but will have the same determination as everyone else to put things right.

LB – Gael Clichy

Expect Clichy to keep his place in the side despite the problems that Arjen Robben gave him yesterday. His pace is a vital asset in this sort of game and his ability to create width on the left hand side is important.

RM – Jesus Navas

Navas will create the width on the right. He will definitely benefit from having Zabaleta in behind him, which will give him an extra outlet down that side of the pitch. Navas will be determined to get the better of Leighton Baines.

CM – Yaya Toure

Toure was overwhelmed against Bayern Munich but he should keep his place in the side. His energy, strength and presence in the middle of the team is vital against an Everton side that won’t stop working hard throughout the match.

CM – Fernandinho

Fernandinho was equally overwhelmed which led to him giving away silly fouls which enabled Bayern Munich to release the pressure from their defence. He can be effective at both ends of the game in this match and needs to sure a mature reaction.

LM – David Silva

Silva is one of the best players City have when it comes to getting on the ball, controlling possession and taking the string out of various situations. He only played 20 minutes against Bayern but added a little quality in the middle of the side.

ST – Sergio Aguero

Aguero should start this game because he’s simply the best forward that City have. His movement and pace pulls players out of position, which creates space for other influential attacking players to run into and take advantage of.

ST – Alvaro Negredo

Negredo will be confident after bagging City’s only game in the defeat against Bayern. Edin Dzeko was disappointing which makes it unlikely that he’ll keep his place in the side, with Negredo’s pace and work rate the better option for this match.

What do you think? How should City approach the Everton game?
