Six games into the new season, Newcastle are heading into a must-win clash against Cardiff City.
That's the view of Dutch midfielder Vurnon Anita, who fears anything other than a win would significantly dent the Toon's chances of breaking into the top 10 this season.
Anita, who has been a regular in Newcastle's starting eleven has seen the team suffer back-to-back Premier League defeats against Hull City and Everton.
It means the Magpies have now lost three of their opening six league games - slipping down to 16th in the table.
Anita feels a third defeat on the bounce would be catastrophic.
"The table looks worrying now, I admit. It's a must-win game.
"It's like a Champions League game for us because it's so important. We must give it our all because you can't underestimate anyone in this division.
"We must recover and show the real Newcastle, the team of the second half at Everton - not the first half. We want to win and to do that, we must improve."
Alan Pardew is expected to ring the changes for Saturday's match, with French defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa expected to make way for Mike Williamson.
Malky Mackay's Cardiff, currently 11th in the league claimed a 2-1 win against Fulham in their last outing.
