Shotton is also on loan at the DW Stadium, having left parent club Stoke City for regular football.
On Monday, Powell joked to his 307,000 Twitter followers about Shotton being his driver.
So glad I found a chauffeur! Guy just loves to drive! @RyanShotton88— Nick Powell (@NPowell25) September 30, 2013
Two days later, he was at it again. This time accusing Shotton of being late, and posting a picture of an empty seat.
As well as being teammates on the pitch, Powell and Shotton have become close friends away from football too.
Powell assisted Shotton's first goal of the season against Ipswich last month, in a 2-0 win where the midfielder also found the net.
