Madoff apartment up for sale for $17m

Bernie Madoff

Want to live like Bernie Madoff ? Or at least live in his old apartment ?

Marketwatch reports that the convicted swindler’s elegant seven-room duplex in Manhattan is up for sale for the bargain price of $17.25m.

Toy-tycoon Al Kahn bought the apartment from the government three years ago for just $8m in cash and is hoping to flip it for twice the price.

Kahn and his wife Patsy have redecorated the three-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath apartment located at 64th and Lexington from a 'musty' place that looked like a cave to a 'much brighter' apartment, according a report on CNBC.

The apartment boasts 11-foot ceilings, hand-carved dentil moldings, a medley of herringbone hardwood floors, and a wrap-around terrace on the 12th floor, with views of Central Park and the Chrysler Building. Four elaborately carved marble fireplaces are located in different parts of the duplex and it has a greenhouse extension, according to the listing.
