Andre Schurrle enjoyed his best game for Chelsea in their 4-0 win over Steaua Bucharest.

While left behind Kevin de Bruyne sat at home watching Chelsea on TV, another player brought into the squad this summer was enjoying surely his best game yet for the club.

£20 million addition Andre Schurrle helped Chelsea secure a 4-0 win in Romania, threatening throughout the 90 minutes.

Schurrle had five efforts on goal, more than any other Chelsea player on the night.

Two of these were on target, two off target and the other blocked. Three of his efforts came from outside the box and two inside.

Playing on the left of a three man attack behind the striker, Schurrle linked up with Ashley Cole excellently, playing 24 accurate passes to the Englishman - all of them forward passes on the overlap.

The one stat which shows Juan Mata is essential to Chelsea

Cole also passed to Schurrle more than any other player, hinting at a developing understanding between the two which can only help the German's chances of becoming a regular pick in the position.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man also made three key passes, with only the impressive Juan Mata (6) making more.

His pass completion ratio of 83 per cent was solid if unspectacular, but higher than Ramires (82) and Oscar (79).

But perhaps by far and away the most impressive aspect of Schurrle's performance were his nine successful dribbling attempts - with the nearest other Chelsea player Ramires with two.

It illustrates just what a different type of threat Schurrle provided all night, a constant headache for Steaua's backline.

We have taken a look at how fans reacted on Twitter to his display to see what they believe the future lies for the German and what they thought of his display.
