Manchester City latest: €35m bid revealed; Dzeko dismisses exit talk

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

The Bayern Munich squad has arrived in England prior to their Champions League match against Manchester City tomorrow evening; and as if to prove it, the Daily Mail has published a string of photographs of the players and manager Pep Guardiola, plus a couple of the club coach for good measure.

Both sides opened their European campaigns with 3-0 victories, City away to Viktoria Plzen and Bayern at home to CSKA Moscow, so something has to give tomorrow evening at the Etihad.

In other news, striker Edin Dzeko has revealed that he had no intention of leaving the Blues this summer.

The Bosnian was linked with a transfer before Manuel Pellegrini stressed his importance to the team, but Dzeko has now revealed that was never on the cards.

In quotes published in the Manchester Evening News, he said, “I think there was a lot of speculation from journalists, but I never heard from the club they wanted to sell, and you never heard from me that I wanted to leave.”

Dzeko also cited Pellegrini’s faith in him as a vital factor in his return to form.

He gives confidence that can change everything,” he said.

From one striker to another, with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis telling Sky Sports News that City made a €35million bid for Edinson Cavani during the summer.

In the end, PSG got their man for £53million, and De Laurentiis said, “Cavani, Manchester City visited me in Rome. But they just offered, I don’t remember exactly, but around €35million, so I didn’t accept.”
