Celtic v Barcelona build up - Lennon dares to dream

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says he is daring to dream that his side can beat Barcelona at Parkhead for the second year running as the two teams meet tonight.

Lennon believes that the fans can have a major impact on the outcome of the game

He said: ‘I want them to use the experience of losing in the Milan game to give the motivation to try and play well. We’re at home, which always gives us an advantage no matter who we’re playing and it can lift you to another level – that’s what I’m hoping the atmosphere and the occasion will do again.’

The Celtic boss has also emphasised the importance of Greek striker Georgios Samaras who is in fine form after scoring a hat-trick against Kilmarnock at the weekend, and believes the forward could be a big factor in tonight’s clash with the La Liga champions according the club's website.

He said: ‘He’s hugely influential at times in these European games. He enjoys the arena and the challenges that these games bring.

‘We all saw on Saturday what a talent he is and when he plays like that he’s very difficult to stop.

‘In the Nou Camp before he went off injured, I felt he was causing Barcelona lots of problems and I am hoping for more of the same tonight.’

Barcelona will be without their talisman Lionel Messi for tonight’s clash in Glasgow and midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes the rest of the side has to step up and take responsibility without the player they rely on most.

He said: ‘Without Messi we will have to take more responsibility. I think we all have to step up and make sure that we don’t feel his absence, and show we can play great football without him.’
