As Manchester United prepare to play West Bromwich Albion this afternoon, many fans will wonder if they will get another glimpse of Adnan Januzaj – the latest wonder-kid to emerge from Old Trafford.
With talks on-going over a new contract for the 18-year-old Belgian, the Mirror has published quotes from David Moyes about his hopes for the midfielder’s future.
“He’s a Manchester United player and I’m sure he will be,” the manager said.
“It’s part of my remit to promote young players and Adnan has been promoted already. The next part is to become a regular first-team player. He’s keen to stay but he has some influences around him.”
Moyes and everyone else connected with United will be hoping those influences are ignored by Januzaj, as he has the potential to be a future club great; as does another young man not currently plying his trade at Old Trafford – Ander Herrera.
The Athletic Bilbao midfielder will reportedly be scouted by United on Monday evening, when his current club travel to Granada.
The Telegraph claims Moyes still hopes to sign the midfielder in the future, and due to the complexity of his contract and Bilbao’s stance on release-clauses, United will have to take time to ensure the deal ultimately goes through.
