Spurs 1-1 Chelsea: Torres sees red and Eriksen shines as London clubs share the points

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw this afternoon

It was honours even in today's early kick-off after Tottenham and Chelsea drew 1-1 at White Hart Lane.

Spurs took the lead in the 19th minute through Gylfi Sigurdsson, after excellent build-up play from Christian Eriksen and Roberto Soldado.

Eriksen shone once again, and the Danish midfielder is already proving to be an absolute steal at just £11.5million.  But his efforts could not inspire Andre Villas-Boas's side to the win, with John Terry heading home a 65th-minute equaliser.

It was a goal set up by half-time substitute Juan Mata, whose free-kick provided the assist for the Blues' skipper.

That was the end of the goal-scoring but not the end of the incidents, as Fernando Torres was sent off for a second bookable offence after clashing with Jan Vertonghen.

The result means Tottenham go above Arsenal at the top of the table, while Chelsea move up to third.
