Steven Taylor and Shola Ameobi are back in contention for Monday's game against Everton.
Alan Pardew will also recall French trio Yohan Cabaye, Moussa Sissoko and Loic Remy after they were left out of Wednesday's Capital One Cup clash against Leeds United.
Defender Taylor has recovered from a hamstring injury, whilst striker Ameobi has beaten off flu. However, the trip to Goodison Park comes too soon for midfielder Jonas Gutierrez, who is likely to miss out despite returning to full training.
Alan Pardew told Sky Sports: "We'll approach it like any other game, to win it. I think Everton have improved in terms of the squad and Roberto's got a lot of good players to choose from and it'll be a tough game, it always is there.
"We have Moussa (Sissoko), (Yohan) Cabaye and (Loic) Remy back, they'll all be fine."
Winger Hatem Ben Arfa who was on the bench against Leeds is also expected to return to the starting eleven.
