Arsenal morning news: Kroenke comments and Gourcuff reignited

All the latest from The Emirates including Stan Kroenke, Ciprian Marica and Yoann Gourcuff.

Stan Kroenke has been speaking to the press about Arsene Wenger, Luis Suarez and all manner of other things.

First of all on the subject of Wenger, the American team owner is desperate for the Frenchman to stay on board beyond the end of the season. Wenger is out of contract at the club next summer and has been in charge of the club for 17 years. Kroenke stated:

''He knows how we feel, what our philosophy is, what we want to do and I feel like we are totally aligned. I think he wants to do it the exact same way as we do.

I don’t want to say something about Arsene that is not the way he feels but, to me, he seems to love what he does. But that’s Arsene’s decision.''

On the subject of the bids for Luis Suarez the owner gave some incredible insight into the deal - including the light hearted ribbing that came from mutual friends of Liverpool owner John W Henry.

Kroenke also admitted that in reality he always knew that Arsenal would not be getting their hands on Suarez after Liverpool made their ‘not for sale’ stance potently clear for all to see.

“Look, Arsene had a view, our team had a view, they had a view. Their view was he wasn’t going anywhere. I never saw them waver from it.''

Luis Suarez or Nicklas Bendtner - Who had the better comeback?

A familiar name has cropped up in the rumour pages this Friday morning - as French international Yoann Gourcuff is being linked with a move to Arsenal after contract talks between the player and his club Lyon stalled.

Gourcuff, who has rediscovered some of his best form this season, has seen talks of an extension fall apart with the French club.

Lyon need to reduce the wage-bill so would want to slash his salary - something the French international is reportedly only happy to do if he is making the move to another league, and Arsenal are reportedly his number one choice.

Any lingering hopes Arsenal had of signing Ciprian Marica are now dead. The striker is all set to sign for Rayo Vallecano of La Liga by the end of the day - after rejecting the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur after they failed to meet his sign on fee.
