A round up of the latest news and gossip connected to Liverpool.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has suggested the club will start talks with Luis Suarez over a new contract next summer.

“Typically, with all players, we aim to have that discussion coming into [the period] when they have two years left, which would be at the end of this season. That’s just the process and we don’t typically do it any earlier,” said Ayre.

Ayre has also suggested that Suarez’s recent actions have damaged the brand of the club, with the official calling for respect and professionalism to be displayed throughout the rest of the season.

Suarez made his comeback in the League Cup defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford, with United defender Jonny Evans suggesting Suarez is the most difficult striker to play against.

“He is the hardest centre-forward you will ever play against. He is constantly on the move and commits you. Not the type to lay it off and just run into the box,” Evans told the BBC.

The forward has also been praised by manager Brendan Rodgers who applauded Suarez’s effort during the defeat considering it was the first competitive match that he’s played for the club all season.

Suarez was not the only player who made a comeback against Manchester United with defender Martin Kelly coming off the bench late into the game. Kelly ruptured a cruciate ligament this time last year and it was fitting the defender’s return was against the same opposition as when he got the injury.

In other news, young right-back Andre Wisdom has urged the club to consider sending him out on loan to get more first team games.

“We've signed a few more defenders and it's obviously going to be harder to get a spot in the team - Maybe if I am to go on loan and get that experience I need, I can try to be a key player,” the youngster told the club’s website.

In transfer news, Liverpool are reportedly sending scouts to watch Lazio youngster Keita Balde Diao. The teenager moved to the Italian side from Barcelona after he fell out with the club following a prank he played while away at a tournament in Qatar.

Another possible player several sources have linked to the club is Udinese forward Luis Muriel. The South American has been suggested as a target for the club despite the fact he recently extended his contract with the Italian side, which now expires in 2018.

Liverpool may also miss out on Barcelona defender Martin Montoya with Napoli the latest side to be reportedly interested in him. Arsenal and Inter Milan are also among the pack of sides taking a look at him, with his deal at the Nou Camp set to expire next summer.
