Chelsea morning news: Valencia consider mega offer for Mata, Luiz bullish over role

A round up of the key news stories about Chelsea this morning.

Chelsea have been handed a fourth round League Cup tie against London rivals Arsenal.

Chelsea defeated Swindon to reach this stage of the competition while the Gunners saw off the challenge of West Brom.

Chelsea will be hoping to win the tournament which was Jose Mourinho’s first ever piece of silverware at the club.

Valencia will test Chelsea’s resolve over Juan Mata with a £25 million bid for the midfielder.

The Spanish side are one of at least a dozen clubs that have been linked with the Spaniard after he’s failed to force his way into the Chelsea team this season.

It’s unclear whether his former club will make their offer this winter or wait for the next summer transfer window.

Chelsea defender David Luiz has revealed he is not looking to prove a point at the club.

There have been suggestions that the Brazilian will have to change his game to fit into Jose Mourinho’s philosophy at the club but he’s hinted he’s not going to change.

“I don't need to prove anything. Everyone knows who David Luiz is, I want to play football and enjoy myself on the pitch so when I have an opportunity to play, I want to enjoy just that,” said the defender.
