Manchester City latest: French defender linked and Silva’s return date

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad...

After scoring yet another set-piece goal in yesterday’s 5-0 victory over Wigan Athletic, Yaya Toure has received the praise of his manager Manuel Pellegrini for his continued hard work in training.

We are always practising,” he said. “Yaya stays normally, kicking the ball after we finish the daily work.

He is really in a good moment. Also it is not normal for someone always (to be) scoring free-kicks.”

Given that the Ivorian also dominated Manchester United in Sunday’s derby, he may now be rightly classed as the most complete midfielder in the Premier League.

In other news, Sky Sports has reported that David Silva could return for next week’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

Having now recovered from the groin injury that has kept him out for the last four weeks, he may have a fight on his hands to get back into a team that has now found its stride without him.

Pellegrini believes Saturday may come too soon for the Spaniard, but he may well need the mercurial Spaniard against the reigning European champions.

In transfer news, the Express is reporting that one-time Manchester City target Adil Rami could be on his way to England after being put on the transfer list by his current club Valencia.

The French centre-back said last night that there was confusion at his current side following the sale of the likes of Roberto Soldado. And Super Deporte is now claiming Rami could be on his way as early as January.

Given the Blues’ summer signing of Martin Demichelis, and with their continued interest in Eliaquim Mangala, it remains to be seen if they will move for the 27-year-old.
