Arsenal's Giroud better value than Manchester United's Van Persie

BoyleSports have cut their price for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot this season, as Manchester United’s Robin Van Persie’s price is on the drift.

Giroud is currently 8/1 for the Golden Boot, but was out at 40/1 prior to the start of the season

Van Persie is still favourite to the take the prestigious prize at 5/2, but has picked up a groin injury which ruled him out of Sunday’s Manchester derby.

Giroud has had a good start to the season, scoring in each of Arsenal’s first four games of the season. He currently leads the goal scoring charts along with Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke and Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, who are priced at 10/1 and 11/1 for the Golden Boot respectively.

Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero is now 8/1 after his brace against Manchester United at the weekend, whilst United's Wayne Rooney is at 16/1 having found his goalscoring touch in the past couple of weeks.

Leon Blanche, Head of Communications at Boylesports said: 'We have seen a flood of cash for (Arsenal's) Olivier Giroud over the past few days and have had to cut him from 10/1 into 8/1 to land the prestigious Golden Boot.

He added: 'It’s early days yet but punters are still hesitant whether Robin van Persie can retain the Golden Boot and he is currently on the drift out to 5/2 having been 9/4 prior to his current groin injury'.

All odds are correct at the time of publication.
