Report - Agent of prolific Villa and Newcastle target happy to move player to England

Alfred Finnbogason’s agent has revealed England is one of the places he’s looking to move his client to.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa should be on red alert because a player they were linked with over the summer, seems very happy to come and play Premier League football.

Alfred Finnbogason is a talented, young, tall and athletic centre forward who seems to have everything and more significantly for the club’s interested in him, he’s available.

“We have interesting offers from Italy, England, Germany and Russia – for me the priority is to move to England or Germany,” Magnus Magnusson Heghnar told Izvestia.

It’s probably a more significant piece of news for Newcastle because Aston Villa have a top trio of strikers in the form of Christian Benteke, Libor Kozak and Nicklas Helenius, with Gabriel Agbonlahor another attacking option.

That should mean they are less likely to go after a player like Finnbogason, handing the advantage to Alan Pardew’s Newcastle, if they can get a deal together, working through the complexities of the transfer system at St James Park.

Papiss Cisse and Loic Remy appear to be the primary attacking options for Newcastle this season, with support coming in the form of Yoann Gouffran off the bench.

They have their angles covered in terms of tall players and players who are smaller, quicker and more dynamic but the reserves are lacking and Finnbogason would only strengthen the number of attacking options at Alan Pardew’s disposal.

Finnbogason’s record this season is one of the best tallies for a striker around Europe; nine goals in six league appearances for Heerenveen.

For as long as he keeps that record going, the interest in him is only going intensify, increasing the number of teams that could come into the equation and potentially take him away from a move to Newcastle.

If Pardew, Kinnear and the club are seriously interested, they’d be well advised to get a deal done before the January window even opens because there is a very good chance a bidding war could break out and Heerenveen will be looking to make a lot of cash for someone who is clearly vital to them.

What do you think? Good potential signing for Newcastle? Do you want to see Villa make a move for him?
