Chelsea blow as Marco van Ginkel is injured after just six minutes

Marco Van Ginkel

Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel's League Cup start has not gone to plan.

The League Cup presents an opportunity for fringe players to force their way into the first team picture, and at present summer signing Marco van Ginkel is still trying to establish himself as a first team regular.

So his early exit from the away tie against Swindon Town is a blow personally to him as much as the team.

Just minutes into the game he appeared to twist his knee and fall awkwardly, requiring treatment from the physios.

He was able to walk off the pitch, but was clearly unable to continue and was substituted for Ramires.

The extent of the injury is as yet unclear and it is likely he will undergo a scan within the coming days.

How much of a blow is this for the midfielder?
