I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 22nd September 2013, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 22nd September 2012…
Don’t lose Luiz
The signature ended speculation over his future at the club and he had this to say on the day:
‘’I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea. It is a great club and I look forward to winning more trophies here. I want to play for a long time at the top level - which is what playing for Chelsea means. I love everything about the club and especially the fans, who have made me very welcome and given me great support.’’
A year later and his time at the club could be coming to an end, as he was dropped from the squad against Fulham yesterday entirely - and Barcelona continue to monitor his situation.
Home sweet home
After years of speculation the owners of Liverpool FC decided to do what they did at Boston Red Sox’s famous Fenway Park - and redevelop Anfield rather than move away from the ground entirely.
The new stadium will reportedly have a 60,000 capacity and be refurnished into modern standards - much to the pleasure of Liverpool fans who did not want to see the club leave their historic home.
And earlier this month it seems the decision was finally signed off.
Crying like Clint
“How did I feel? I almost wanted to break down in tears I was so happy,”
But that happiness at White Hart Lane didn’t last long. After failing to establish himself at the club last season he moved back to the USA with Seattle Sounders this summer.
