Like him or loathe him (I prefer the latter) he certainly gets plenty of responses and this afternoon the US based journalist and broadcaster was trending in the UK as he watched the Arsenal v Stoke City game and let people know his brain-farts throughout the fixture.
Arsenal won 3-1, with goals from Per Mertesacker, Bacary Sagna and of course Aaron Ramsey - the Welshman opening the scoring before Geoff Cameron levelled for The Potters.
It was Ramsey’s seventh goal in eight games and the fact he scored it against Stoke, and Ryan Shawcross, which is where his career could have ended with a footnote, would have given him a real personal boost as well.
But he was pretty poor for parts of last season, and Piers Morgan was one of the most vocal in his despondency at Ramsey’s performances.
But now, he is sarcastically claiming that he is the reason behind Ramsey’s uptake in form.
After already annoying some Arsenal fans by suggesting he had never heard of Serge Gnabry, who started for The Gunners after Theo Walcott pulled out at the eleventh hour with an illness, or abdominal strain or something.
Here is a selection of the Tweets, which should just tell you the story itself:
I'll say it again: Ramsey was a complete and utter liability last year. Now he's playing brilliantly. Good for him. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 22, 2013
'Ramsey's fantastic' - said no Arsenal fan whatsoever last season. #FairweatherFibbers— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 22, 2013
Who's more fickle....an Arsenal fan who said Ramsey was poor last year, or one now pretending he/she never did? #FairweatherFibbers— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 22, 2013
My nagging at Ramsey clearly made him raise his game, just as my nagging at Wenger's transfer dithering made him buy Ozil for £42m. #AFC— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 22, 2013
