Spanish footballers are all the rage in the Premier League these days with a plethora of Spaniards making the trip north in the continent to play for the likes of Swansea City, Liverpool and Arsenal.
And now one more is being targeted by plenty of teams. This summer it was reported in some quarters that Liverpool were ready to make a move for Spanish Under-21 left-back Alberto Moreno.
However there could be an explanation to this interest if it turned out to not be true, considering that midfield signing Luis Alberto Moreno also came to Anfield from Sevilla.
Both clubs had scouts at the midweek Europa League game between Sevilla and Estoril - where once again the 21-year-old excelled.
Real Madrid are also said to be keen on the player, as Carlo Ancelotti is not particulary sold on the talents of Fabio Coentrao or Marcelo at left-back - so interest is high in the player.
But Sevilla have sold a lot of their players recently, and are now trying to change that mind-set - and actually try to keep some of their star players.
And, according to some sources they might have just done it.
Inside Spanish Futbol Tweeted this yesterday …
Sevilla and Spanish U-21 star, Alberto Moreno are close to finalising a contract extension.— Inside La Liga (@InsideLaLiga) September 21, 2013
That suggests that Moreno is ready to sign an extension at the Sanchez Pizjuan - rather than move on to become the future long-term left back anywhere else.
He is now a regular in the Sevilla side, and clearly sees no need to move on from his green pastures in a desperate search for that greener.
It is a shame, because Moreno is an excellent talent who would fit like a glove into the Premier League.
But for now, it might just be time to consider other options for United and Everton.
