Two days after Manchester United starlet is loaned out he scores FOUR goals in one game

Jesse Lingard stole the headlines in today's Championship action, bagging a double brace against Sheffield Wednesday on debut for Birmingham City.

Jesse Lingard had a pretty spectacular pre-season campaign for Manchester United under David Moyes. The 20-year-old was considered lucky to even be taken out on the tour, but he impressed with goals against A-League All Stars, Kitchee SC and Yokohama F. Marinos - which made him the clubs top scorer on the tour with four goals in four games.

But four in four is old news for Lingard, nowadays he scores four in ONE game.

Just two days ago Manchester United allowed Lingard to join up with Championship outfit Birmingham City on a short-term loan deal - and the player, who has been compared to both Kaka and Eden Hazard, did not fail to impress.

He scored all four of City’s goals against Sheffield Wednesday in a 4-1 win at St Andrews this afternoon - sending fans into raptures with his magnificent performance.

His first goal was straight-forward, following up on Chris Kirkland’s save from Chris Burke’s effort to tap into an empty net. But not content with this as an immediate impact he went on the rampage, completing his hat-trick within 14 minutes.

For the second goal his pace saw him latch onto Wade Elliot’s inch perfect pass and coolly slot beyond Kirkland for 2-0. His third however increased with quality, marking his treble with a superb curling effort from the edge of the box.

He was however not yet finished, adding his fourth after yet more good work from Burke down the flank - firing home from inside the six-yard box.

Lingard eventually came off suffering with cramp - but you can’t blame him for fancying a breather after this superb performance.

If his four goals in pre-season had not caught the eye sufficiently for first-team football to become a viable option at United, than his four goals in one game might just do the trick for this talented England Under-21 international.

But as Jeff Stelling said on Sky Sports - how does he improve on that debut?

Does Lingard have what it takes?
